HOW TO TAKE BODY MEASUREMENTS

SAVE AS PDF HOW TO TAKE BODY MEASUREMENTS for Word (DOCX, ~ 13 Kb)

Keep in mind -
1. The person should be wearing her normal undergarments only, no jeans, blouses, flattening sports bras, etc. Padded bras are okay, if that is what you would normally wear with the style you are measuring for.
2. Lay the tape measure flat against the skin; don't pull it tight, nor let it droop.
3. To find the true base of the neck, have the person tilt her head forward so that knobby bone at the base of the neck (the cervical) is obvious. That point is the back of the neck . Have her straighten up her head again when you take measurements from there. Remember: cervical = base of neck.
4. To find the waist, tie a string around the general waist area. Have her raise or loosen and lower the string to where you feel is your waist. Larger women may dip the waist string in the front; this is perfectly fine. Keep the string on while you take the measurements.
